Stipends are only available during funded cohorts. Whether a cohort is funded or volunteer-based is announced before applications open each year.
The AMP provides stipends to recognize the time, effort, and impact of contributors and mentors who fulfill program requirements and demonstrate commitment throughout the program. Stipends are only disbursed in years where a budget has been allocated to the program. In volunteer cohorts, no financial compensation is provided; participation is entirely community-driven.
AMP participants may receive stipends from AsyncAPI at AsyncAPI's sole discretion; these stipends are not adjusted for cost of living. All participants will receive equal stipend amounts during program participation.
Eligibility for Stipends
The following eligibility criteria apply to funded cohorts only. If you are participating in a volunteer cohort, these requirements still reflect the standard of commitment expected, but no stipend evaluation will occur.
Contributors
To qualify for stipend payments as a contributor, you must:
- Be officially accepted into the AMP
- Successfully complete both midterm and final evaluations conducted by your mentor
- Maintain regular communication with your mentor and actively engage in check-ins
- Submit all key deliverables (project proposal, code/documentation, final project report) by the required deadlines
- Consistently adhere to the AsyncAPI Code of Conduct and contribution guidelines
Mentors
To qualify for stipend payment as a mentor, you must:
- Complete both midterm and final evaluations for your assigned contributor
- Provide meaningful guidance, feedback, and support throughout the program
- Demonstrate alignment with the Code of Conduct and uphold the standards of the AsyncAPI community
Volunteer cohort participants are encouraged to treat these criteria as a guide for program integrity, even without financial stakes. The same standards of quality and commitment are expected regardless of cohort type.
