Now that we are wrapping up Q2 and we’re halfway through the year, it’s a good time to start thinking about taking a holiday break and recharging for a couple of days. Though things are starting to slow down in some community activities, here is a brief summary of what we were up to in June.

AsyncAPI Conference 2026

We headed to Amsterdam for our second conference of the year, and great conversations were had at the API Standards booth. Though it was our first time there, it was great to be there, thanks to the support of APIdays.

A big thank you to our speakers for taking the time to share their knowledge on stage and also volunteering at the booth.

New CFP System

We now manage our own conference management software, and this is a big milestone in the way we organise and improve the experience for all community speakers.

I would like to thank Ashish Padhy for the work he put in, and you can read all about it in the recently published CFP Process article, which details the thought process from start to deployment.

And with that, we’re now accepting proposals for our upcoming conferences in:

AsyncAPI Conference at APIConf Lagos 2026

We will be at APIConf Lagos 2026 on the 25th of July. Though we won’t have a track there, we will be community partners and present at the API Standards Booth. Some of our community members will be present volunteering at the booth; be sure to pass by and say hi. Huge thank you to APIConf Lagos for partnering with us and for having us there.

Maintainership

The Maintainership Program Volunteer Edition is now underway, as we welcomed 3 new mentees under this year’s cohort. In the next couple of months, they will have the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in taking ownership and developing insight into the responsibilities of a maintainer. You can read more about the project they’ll be working on in the Maintainership Program announcement blog.
